In the deepest strata of existence, before worlds were shaped and before multiplicity scattered the possibilities of being, there exist four primordial forces that describe the relationship between the Eternal Pattern and all that proceeds from it. These are not mere elements or alignments, but the fundamental dynamics of life, order, and decay itself.
Indictum is the Source. It is the Song of Creation, the sustaining Word, the undivided and eternal harmony that is the very Heart of God. Within Indictum, order and strength exist in perfect, living unity — structure and life, pattern and power, are one.
All true life flows from Indictum. When creation walks in the Way of God, Lodictum and Virdictum remain perfectly joined as one, and the manifest world reflects the undivided Pattern. Indictum is not a distant ideal; it is the living, generative reality that continually offers itself to all things. It is the only state in which order and strength together produce enduring life rather than mere existence or eventual collapse.
Virdictum is the life-force that remains within creation even after the Fall — the silent, persistent vitality that still carries something of the original Pattern. It is strength that has not yet been fully extinguished, the capacity for life, growth, and faithful correspondence with the Way of God.
Wherever Virdictum remains strong, creation retains the ability to heal, to order itself toward life, and to resist decay. Virdictum is not raw power; it is living power — power that still remembers its Source and seeks to return to it. It is the strength that makes genuine obedience, genuine creativity, and genuine communion possible.
Lodictum is the latent, potential order that remains when Virdictum has been diminished or severed from its living Pattern. It is structure without life, form without the indwelling vitality that makes form meaningful.
In a fallen world, Lodictum manifests as the many possible but imperfect ways — rules, systems, hierarchies, and structures that can still impose a kind of order, but an order that has lost its connection to the living Source. It is the "dead wood" of creation: shape that can be manipulated, but which no longer generates or sustains true life on its own. When Lodictum grows at the expense of Virdictum, the world becomes increasingly rigid, mechanical, and ultimately sterile.
Maldictum is the force that actively deepens the division between Lodictum and Virdictum. It does not create; it consumes. It opposes the remaining Pattern within Virdictum, seeking to reduce living strength so that only dead structure remains for it to rule.
Its method is always the same: it breaks in order to rule, weakens in order to dominate, kills in order to possess. Maldictum slays Virdictum to convert it into usable Lodictum — it destroys the living connection to Indictum so that what remains can be bent to its own will. It is inherently parasitic: it requires the strength it destroys in order to have any power at all. Without Virdictum to feed upon, Maldictum would have no substance.
Where Maldictum triumphs, only dead order remains — a world of rigid forms animated by nothing but the will to dominate what little life is left.
