Beastial

Primal powers and abilities that beasts can acquire.

Overview

The Beastial collection contains the primal powers and abilities that beasts themselves can acquire and wield. These are not primarily spells for casters, but the natural and awakened capabilities of beasts — enhanced senses, primal fury, pack command, territorial dominance, and other expressions of the wild.

Player characters might gain access to abilities from this collection through deep bonds formed with beasts, whether through gameplay, character creation, or legendary pacts. In such cases, the character does not "learn" the power in the traditional sense — they share in the beast's nature, carrying a portion of its strength, instinct, or authority.

Beastial abilities are raw, instinctive, and often unpredictable. They draw from the oldest forces in the world — the hunt, the pack, the survival of the fittest, and the deep, unspoken language shared between all living things that walk, crawl, swim, or fly.

The below seires of Tags (Affinities) are used to rate compatibility between a Beast and the Beastial (Magics) Features listed in the "Magics" Subcategory. There are no restrictions or rules on which Affinities that a Beast can or cannot have. The "Force" Affinities relate to strengths and powers that a Beast may have which is not based on its body and primal preparedness to survive (IE: Explicity magical options would rely on a "Force" Affinity).

Mechanical Clarifications

Each Beastial Magic Feature uses a two-part Affinity requirement format:

  • Base Requirements — All listed Affinities are required (e.g., Requires: Mammal and Hunter).
  • Choice Requirements — Only one Affinity from the listed group is required (e.g., Requires: Sovereign or Terrestrial or Fury).

A beast must meet both the full Base Requirements and at least one of the Choice Requirements to access the feature.

Example Features

Crown of the Sovereign

Requires: Mammal and Pack
Requires (one of): Sovereign or Guardian or Fury

The beast radiates an aura of dominance. Lesser beasts within a wide area instinctively defer to it, refusing to attack unless directly commanded by a greater power.

Sky Reaper’s Dive

Requires: Avian and Hunter
Requires (one of): Aerial or Arboreal or Gale

The beast can execute devastating diving strikes from above, gaining increased speed and damage when attacking targets below it.

Feral Endurance

Requires: Mammal and Hunter
Requires (one of): Terrestrial or Fury or Sovereign

When wounded, the beast’s fury sustains it, allowing it to ignore pain and continue fighting with reduced effectiveness rather than fleeing or collapsing.
